The 5 finalists of the Women in Business Challenge were selected from a total of 242 participants. A high-profile jury announced the winner on June 9th at the Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The Women in Business Challenge aims at supporting women entrepreneurs in developing countries in starting and growing their businesses. The competition, which is in its second edition, addressed both the challenges and opportunities that come with being a businesswoman in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
The 5 finalists were selected by an expert jury panel that deemed their business proposals as the best ones among 242 participants.
On the 9th of June, Thierry Sanders, director and founder of BiD Network introduced and welcomed the 80 attendees for the Women in Business Final Event. During the event, the 5 finalists pitched their business plans. A Q&A plenary session about their businesses and role as women entrepreneurs took place. Moreover, ING, ICCO and UnitedSucess discussed the importance of this competition and emphasized their role as partners. The participants and the 5 finalists had the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas about Opportunities & Challenges for business women in developing countries.
Corinne Heijn, Founder and President of UnitedSucces, sponsored and announced the grand prize of €5,000 which consists of tailor made advisory services. This prize was awarded to Nathalie Arsonillo’s company “Mobile Cassava Processing Unit” . At the end of the event, the 5 finalists were given the opportunity to network with attendees.
