Sondos runs Environmental Laboratory for Microbiological & Chemical Analysis in Amman, Jordan. They provide microbiological and chemical analysis for the food and beverages sector in Jordan. They also assist many factories in Jordan to export their products all over the world by providing the necessary tests and health certificates. The tests cover a variety of microbiological analysis (e.g. total bacterial count, Coliform, E-coli, yeast and mould). Sondos is proud that her company has been part of the ISO 22000 certification program for several factories in Jordan.
Along with her sisters, Sondos inherited the company from her father who passed away in 2010. In 2012 Sondos joined the family business with the goal to get international accreditation for the laboratory, despite having no background in ISO 17025 accreditation, building a quality management system, or the organisation of a laboratory.
Sondos researched best practice design for accredited laboratories and asked her architect sister to create a similar design in a rented space. In the meantime, Sondos reviewed all the documents she could find on building a quality management system.
In June 2014, they officially received the highly prized ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation. Sondos continues to carry out renovation and development projects to increase their work capacity and the quality of their work. She is in the process of starting a support group website for Arab patients, which is being funded by USAID-CIS and hopes to launch soon.
